Monday - July 15
Reykjavik
Randy arrived at the Hotel Óðinsvé in Reykjavik from SF around 11am, Rick arrived from Switzerland around 5pm. Met our guides, Jonathan and Louise, along with our fellow photographers for the week: Tom & Heather, Noel & Tala, Deidre (“D”), and David. Had a brief orientation, then dinner in the hotel.

Tuesday - July 16
Þjórsárdalur Valley
Met our driver-guides Haukur and Freyr outside at 8am. Loaded into a large van and a Suburban and headed East for the steaming geothermal area just outside Reykjavík. From there we drove to the south of Iceland and headed for the Þjórsárdalur Valley. Saw Iceland’s second tallest waterfall ‘Háifoss’ as well as a number of other locations with hardly any other people. Stayed the night at the Hotel Highlander, a basic hotel, the only lodging for many miles.

Wednesday - July 17
Landmannalaugar
Started at a “waterfall valley”, then on to Landmannalaugar, an active volcanic and geothermal area where we did a 3 hour hike. Lots of off the beaten path scenery, plenty of photo stops. Lots of drone flights. Stayed the night at Hrifunes Guesthouse, a very modern and comfortable guest house owned by Haukur and his wife. After dinner did a two hour helicopter flight over a valley leading to a glacier.
